Arts and Sciences dean names Christine Puckett as Assistant Dean of Finance
Christine Puckett has been promoted to Assistant Dean of Finance, IU College of Arts and Sciences Dean Bennett I. Bertenthal announced today. Puckett has served as Budget Director for the College since 2002.
“Chris is extremely deserving of this promotion.” Dean Bertenthal said. “In her almost 20 years at IU, she has steadily taken on jobs of greater complexity and leadership, and has always performed at the highest professional level. She currently oversees the College annual budget of $490 million. Her intimate knowledge of the College’s budgetary needs and her long-term experience as a leader in the University accounting and budgeting processes has proven invaluable to the College.”
Puckett joined the IU Accounting Department in 1988, participated in the Financial Management System merger, and served as an Acting Associate Director of Reporting and Analysis before moving to the University Budget Office in 1991. She served as Associate University Director of Budgeting, overseeing all aspects of IU budget planning and administration before accepting the position in the College in 2002.
She received her bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 1984 and began her career as a public accountant.
