Tom Recker named as the first Assistant Dean for Advancement
Tom Recker has been named as the first assistant dean for Advancement for the IU College of Arts and Sciences, Bennett I. Bertenthal, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, announced today. Recker comes to IU from his current position as Director of Advancement in Purdue’s College of Liberal Arts. He has also served as Director of Development for Purdue’s School of Industrial Engineering and, for 17 years, as the Executive Vice President of Phi Sigma Kappa International Fraternity and the Phi Sigma Kappa Foundation.
Recker holds a bachelor of arts degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan and an M.A. in Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University.
“The assistant dean for Advancement is a new and challenging position that demanded we find someone with considerable experience, initiative, and creativity,” said Dean Bertenthal. “Tom Recker was our first choice following a national search, and we are delighted that he accepted. We look forward to Tom joining us and advancing the goals of the College.”
Recker will lead the College’s newly formed Office of Advancement, which brings together the College Development Office, the College Alumni Programs Office, and the College’s Office of Communications and Marketing. He will begin his appointment on Feb. 2, 2009.
