Absent: Walter Gantz, Daniel O'Neill
ACTIONS
  1. Approved minutes from October 8, 2002 meeting.
  2. Affirmed that the assistant deans can use some flexibility as they continue to verify completion of degrees for students who die during their last semester in classes that would complete their degree program.
  3. Approved the idea of developing a certificate of academic recognition for students in the College and in good standing at the time of their death.
  4. Did not approve the minor in Military Science and Leadership proposed by the Army ROTC program.
DISCUSSION
The Committee discussed posthumous degrees and other forms of formal recognition for families of students who die while actively pursuing undergraduate degrees. The Committee also discussed the minor in Military Science and Leadership proposed by the Army ROTC program, and the fundamental skills in mathematics requirement.

The next meeting is scheduled for 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 3, 2002, in KH 007.
