In general, the US classroom is less formal than in many other countries. Students are encouraged to participate actively in class. A lecture class often includes pair or group work. Interrupting the lecture to ask questions or seek clarification is encouraged. It is also common for students to meet with the professor or associate instructor during office hours to talk about grades or a concern with class assignments.
