Career Education for College Graduate Students
Graduate Student Career Advising
We are pleased to announce that the College has partnered with the Career Development Center to create a new office that will help graduate students who are enrolled in degree programs managed by the College of Arts and Sciences, and who are seeking non-academic positions.
This new office will be located in the Career Development Center at 625 North Jordan Avenue, and that office will provide hour-long career advising appointments to assist Arts and Sciences graduate students with choosing a career direction, job search strategies, interviewing skills, and the critiquing of cover letters, resumes, and CVs. These students may also attend Career Development Center events, use the Career Resource Library, and access job listings and online resources at www.IUCareers.com.
Graduate students conducting academic job searches should consult with their faculty advisor for career-related guidance.
To request an appointment or learn more about this service, graduate students may visit: http://www.indiana.edu/~career/services/advising/grad_advising.php.
Credential File at the School of Education
The College of Arts and Sciences has also partnered with the School of Education to provide assistance in creating and maintaining a credential file service. This service is available to College of Arts and Sciences graduate students who are enrolled in degree programs in the College and who plan on applying for teaching or professional positions in higher education. This service will allow students to create a credential file/account at no cost. Students can update their credentials and faculty recommenders can send their letters of recommendation to their office (IU School of Education). At the student’s request, they will send copies of the student’s credentials file/letters of recommendation to the prospective employer, professional school, or graduate school on behalf of the student. A payment of $5.00 is required to cover the processing for each credential file of 7 pages or less. There is also a fax service for an additional $5.00 per credential set. Students can pay by check, credit card, or cash. You may log onto to the following link to start your credential file service:
