Summer STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) courses for teachers: A Professional Enrichment Program
The importance of keeping up to date in your academic field has never been more urgent for teachers, and the options for doing so have never been better. The IU Bloomington College of Arts and Sciences invites you to take part in its summer courses for teachers. The courses listed below will be offered in 2011 and carry graduate credit that can be used to as Certification Renewal Units towards licensure renewal, applied toward certification for IU’s Advanced College Project (ACP) or applied toward the completion of a Master of Arts for Teachers degree at IU.
Courses for summer 2011
- Biology L509 (Local Ecology for Educators)
- Chemistry COLL C555 (Survey of Organic Chemistry)
- Geological Sciences G429 (Field Geology in the Rocky Mountains)
- Mathematics M415 (Elementary Complex Variables with Applications)
- Physics P301 (Applied Physics Instrumentation Lab)
Costs and financial assistance
- Teachers who are in-state residents may register for courses at the graduate rate of $291.97 per credit hour, plus fees. The fee schedule is available through the Bursars Office.
- Please note that costs are higher for Field Geology because the class is held on-site at the Judson Mead Geologic Field Station in Montana. However, in-state and out-of-state students pay the same rate for this class.
Registration
To register for summer courses for teachers at IU Bloomington, please print the application form (PDF) and residency classification (PDF), fill out, and mail them to the address below. Registrations will be processed on a first-come, first served basis until courses fill.
