Registration Deadline: October 5, 2012
The Indiana Junior Academy of Science (IJAS) meeting and competition is held on the IU Bloomington campus each fall. The 2012 meeting and competition will be on Friday, November 9, 2012. Sponsored by the Indiana Academy of Science, IJAS is designed to encourage high school students to pursue an interest in science study and careers. Indiana high schools register to participate in the program, and science teachers accompany their students to the competition.

Competitions and events at the fall meeting include:
Outstanding Junior Scientist Competition
The purpose of this competition is to recognize students who are exemplary in overall scholarship as well as scientific ability and achievement, and to recognize among those students one student as most outstanding. Two students may be nominated from each school.
Research Paper Presentation Competition
This competition provides an opportunity for students conducting original scientific investigations to present their work publicly and to receive recognition for their achievement.
Issues Competition
The Issues Competition recognizes students with the ability to cogently and persuasively present their opinions on a specific scientific issue.
Problem-Solving Exam
This exam provides delegates a fun yet meaningful exercise and is an opportunity to recognize both students and schools that excel in science.
Science Olympiad Event
The Science Olympiad Competition for this year will be “Picture This” – click here for the rules.
Other Activities
Specialized tours and demonstrations of some of IU's world-renowned research facilities are a tradition. 2012 tours will be posted in late-October. You are encouraged to bring alternates or observers to the meeting. They can participate in the tours and demonstrations. Please remember to fill-out the observer/alternate registration form 
for each student.
