Scholarships and Awards
The College of Arts and Sciences recognizes academic excellence through a number of scholarships and awards. In most cases, these opportunities are available only to students who have been admitted to and have declared a major in the College. Many departments or programs offer awards to students majoring within those areas of study. Most awards are modest; some are one-time awards and some are renewable (See individual award descriptions for details). Criteria vary for each scholarship, and may include: academic qualifications, major, class standing, residency, financial need, demonstrated leadership skills, work experience, career and academic goals, scholarly potential, and/or other formative experiences. In general, scholarship recipients are in the top of their class and have strong and varied academic records. The number of available scholarships is limited and awarding is competitive. Prospective and current student are encouraged to view the scholarship links on the home pages of individual departments or programs in which they are considering a major or a minor for specific opportunities and information.
