William G. Bray Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established to honor the memory of William G. Bray, author, lawyer, and distinguished congressman from the 7th (later 6th) Indiana District. Congressman Bray served in the 82nd through the 93rd congresses. The scholarship was established by his widow, Esther Bray, his son, Richard D. Bray, and numerous friends.

• Full-time undergraduate status at IUB; current sophomore or junior
• Must be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 hours of enrollment) during semesters in which award is received
• High academic merit, including a minimum GPA of 3.750
• Major or minor in History or Political Science or Operations and Decision Technologies
• Demonstrated record of "good campus citizenship"
• Must be available, if selected, for an interview with the selection committee on Friday, March 30, 2012.

Preference given to Indiana residents. Financial need is considered when all other criteria are equal.

This scholarship is awarded in spring for the following academic year. Recipient(s) are determined by Senator Richard Bray and a faculty selection committee.  Completed applications must be delivered by the deadline to Undergraduate Academic Affairs Office, Kirkwood Hall 012, (Hours: 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.; 1:00-4:00 p.m., weekdays).

The selection committee generally makes two to three annual awards of $500 to $1,000. Recipient(s) must write letter of thanks to Senator Bray.
