Sally Kissinger Wilt Merit Scholarship

Description:

This competition is open to current freshmen who were directly admitted to the IU College of Arts and Sciences. The recipient(s) will receive an award to be applied to cost of attendance for the sophomore year at Indiana University-Bloomington. The award may be renewed annually for a total of up to three years (six semesters) while the student is progressing normally toward a baccalaureate degree in the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University Bloomington or in an approved overseas study program. Renewal of the award is subject to meeting the renewal criteria and the availability of funds.

Eligibility:

  • Current full-time freshman who were directly admitted to the College with full-time enrollment during the 2010-2011 academic year
  • High academic merit, including a minimum College GPA of 3.700 (must be maintained for duration of the award)
  • Maintain full-time enrollment in the IU College of Arts and Sciences for the duration of the award
  • Must have a current FAFSA on file to verify financial need

Preference is given to students from single-parent families and to applicants with financial need.

Application Process:

Complete application form and all supporting materials must be received by the deadline in the Undergraduate Academic Affairs Office,
Kirkwood Hall 012 (Hours: 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.; 1:00-4:00 p.m. weekdays).

Materials:

  • Résumé or curriculum vitae
  • Two letters of recommendation (at least one from a current IU faculty member)
  • Personal statement of 400 to 500 words
  • Second statement of up to 250 words if desired (See application form.)

Award:

The recipient(s) will receive a $500 award to be applied to the costs of attendance for the sophomore year at Indiana University-Bloomington. The award is renewable annually for a total of up to three years (six semesters). Renewal of the award is subject to meeting the renewal criteria and the availability of funds. Recipient(s) must write letter of thanks to the donor.
