IU Film Experience

Description

This course teams up with the IU Cinema – the premier place for film at IU, in the Midwest, and across the nation – to enable both understanding of and engagement with the contemporary film experience. How do we "watch" and "go to" the cinema at a moment when such a wide array of screens – from cell phones to tablets to computer screens – are also available to us for viewing films? How have films been produced and programmed for the cinema? What range of experiences, genres, locations, and institutions have been supported by them? How have viewers engaged with the public exhibition of such films? Class readings and discussions will address these concerns and more. All screenings will be at the IU Cinema.
