The amount of the Dr. J. Bryan Collester Scholarship in Political Science and the number of recipients vary from year to year. The scholarship may not be available some years.
Dr. J. Bryan Collester Scholarship in Political Science
Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- List political science as your intended major on your application for admission to IU Bloomington
- Be admitted to IU’s freshman class for the coming academic year
- Have achieved outstanding academic success in high school
Application process
Students apply using IU’s online Selective Scholarship Application (SSA). You’ll be notified if your IU Bloomington application for admission qualifies you to be invited to fill out the SSA.
The Department of Political Science’s Scholarship Committee chooses recipients and notifies them in March.
Deadline
Applicants must submit a completed application for admission to IU Bloomington by November 1. Then they must complete the SSA by the date specified on the SSA.
Renewal
This scholarship may be renewable for up to four years.
About the donor
Janet Collester, M.A. Journalism 1965, Ph.D. History 1977, established this scholarship to honor the memory of her brother, Dr. J. Bryan Collester, M.A. Political Science 1963. Dr. Collester spent the majority of his career at Principia College, where he taught political science until his death in 2002.
