The amount of the Donald J. Riskind Scholarship in Spanish and the number of recipients vary from year to year. The scholarship may not be available some years.
Donald J. Riskind Scholarship in Spanish
Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- List Spanish as your intended major on your application for admission to IU Bloomington
- Be admitted to IU’s freshman class for the coming academic year
- Have achieved outstanding academic success in high school
Application process
Students apply using IU’s online Selective Scholarship Application (SSA). You’ll be notified if your IU Bloomington application for admission qualifies you to be invited to fill out the SSA.
The College’s Scholarship Committee chooses recipients and notifies them in March.
Deadline
Applicants must submit a completed application for admission to IU Bloomington by November 1. Then they must complete the SSA by the date specified on the SSA.
Renewal
This scholarship may be renewable for up to four years.
About the donor
This scholarship was established by Donald J. Riskind, B.A. Spanish 1962. Don recognized that his undergraduate education in Spanish contributed to his later success in business endeavors. His dedication to Indiana University led him to set a personal goal to endow a significant scholarship that would exist in perpetuity at IU.
