The amount of the Stewart Family Scholarship and the number of recipients vary from year to year. The scholarship may not be available some years.
Stewart Family Scholarship
Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- List an intended major in the College of Arts and Sciences on your application for admission to IU Bloomington
- Be admitted to IU’s freshman class for the coming academic year
- Have achieved outstanding academic success in high school
Application process
Students apply using IU’s online Selective Scholarship Application (SSA). You’ll be notified if your IU Bloomington application for admission qualifies you to be invited to fill out the SSA.
The College’s Scholarship Committee chooses recipients and notifies them in March.
Deadline
Applicants must submit a completed application for admission to IU Bloomington by November 1. Then they must complete the SSA by the date specified on the SSA.
Renewal
This scholarship may be renewable for up to four years if all criteria continue to be met and the recipient has a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at IU.
About the donors
The scholarship was established by Marion B. Stewart, A.B. 1966, and his sons Jeremy M. Stewart, A.B. 2006, M.A. 2009, M.B.A. 2009, and Joshua D. Stewart, A.B. 2010. It honors the memory of their parents/grandparents, Marion Tracy Stewart, M.S. Education 1958, and Isabel Stewart Cain, and honors the memory of Marcy Glanz Stewart, wife of Marion B. Stewart and mother of Jeremy and Joshua, and also honors the memory of David C. Stewart, B.S. Business 1969, J.D. 1974, brother of Marion Stewart.
