She also educates her followers on social media, posting regularly about different weather, environment, and even astronomical events and phenomena.
Before moving to the Bay Area, Mintz was a meteorologist in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at KRQE. She forecasted for the North American monsoon, multiple dust storms, snow and ice storms, tornadoes, and the largest wildfire in New Mexico's history. Living in the desert helped her hone her forecasting abilities and find her love for outdoor activities and national parks. One of her goals is to inspire people to explore nature and beauty in their own backyard.
After graduating from Indiana University, Mintz was hired in eastern North Carolina to work as a meteorologist at WNCT. This is where her passion for broadcast meteorology really skyrocketed as she learned the ins and outs of broadcast television. She became a professor of synoptic meteorology at East Carolina University, where she fell in love with teaching. She hopes to be a professor again one day but continues to try to educate viewers during her everyday forecasts.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Munster, Indiana, Mintz attended Munster High School before receiving her B.S. in Atmospheric Sciences from Indiana University in 2020. She was president of the Weather Club and a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority while at IU. She now lives in San Francisco with her husband and her dog, Ella Mintz.
