Income and Wealth: Fact and Fiction | The presentation will try to separate fact in the income and wealth distribution from fiction. We will consider some of the underlying fundamental causes for a rise in inequality as well as some of its implications. Some tentative policy conclusions will be offered.
Speaker biography | Gerhard Glomm is a professor in the Department of Economics, where he also serves as chair. Born in southern Germany in 1957, Glomm received a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Minnesota in 1988. His research and teaching interests include macroeconomics, economic growth, income distribution, and political economy. He's recently published scholarship in the European Economic Review, the International Economic Review, the Public Finance Review, and the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, among many other publications.
