Rebecca Lave, a professor in the Department of Geography within the College of Arts and Sciences at IU, has been elected president of the American Association of Geographers, a global network of more than 9,500 researchers, educators, and practitioners. Geographers study a wide range of issues, from climate change and natural disasters to immigration and shortages of affordable housing.
“It is such an honor to be nominated and then elected president by my colleagues,” she said. “The presidential role is the biggest bully pulpit in anglophone geography, and I am really looking forward to promoting public and community-engaged scholarship and expanding support for undergraduate and graduate students.”
