Course Description

The IU Books & Beyond Project is a collaborative, hands-on leadership initiative. After a short course in Bloomington, student delegates visit Rwanda over the summer to deliver books, volunteer at an English day camp for primary school students, and co-teach with Rwandan teachers. Students will also go on safari and explore the rich historical, linguistic, and cultural heritage of Rwanda.

  • COLL-X 211 (1 credit) Second eight-weeks course, Spring 2020

Application deadline

Priority deadline: February 10. Final deadline: February 28.

Course fee

Includes international airfare, lodging, meals, local transportation, and excursions. $4,000 to $4,400.

Plus 2 credits summer tuition.

Scholarships are available for selected OVPDEMA students. All selected students may apply for Books & Beyond scholarships.

Eligibility requirements

Students may be in any major, and must have a minimum GPA of 2.7. Students must enroll in 1 credit of COLL-X 211 in Spring 2020 as a prerequisite for this travel course.
