The amount of the James D. and Judy J. Frey Scholarship and the number of recipients vary from year to year. The scholarship may not be available some years.
James D. & Judy J. Frey Scholarship
Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- List an intended major in the biological sciences, life sciences, or chemistry on your application for admission to IU Bloomington
- Be admitted to IU’s freshman class for the coming academic year
- Have achieved outstanding academic success in high school, as demonstrated by a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
Preference
Preference is given to students from Allen County, Indiana.
Application process
Students apply using IU’s online Selective Scholarship Application (SSA). You’ll be notified if your IU Bloomington application for admission qualifies you to be invited to fill out the SSA.
The College’s Scholarship Committee chooses recipients and notifies them in March.
Deadline
Applicants must submit a completed application for admission to IU Bloomington by November 1. Then they must complete the SSA by the date specified on the SSA.
Renewal
This scholarship may be renewable for up to four years if all criteria continue to be met and the recipient has a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at IU.
About the donors
James, B.S. 1959, D.D.S. 1962, and Judy Frey established this scholarship to create opportunities for graduates of Indiana high schools to pursue coursework in the biological and chemical sciences and to have successful careers. The IU School of Dentistry has recognized Dr. Frey with its Distinguished Alumni Award.
