The amount of the Goldman Sachs Scholarship in the Arts and Sciences and the number of recipients vary from year to year. The scholarship may not be available some years.
Goldman Sachs Scholarship in the Arts & Sciences
Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- List an intended major in the College of Arts and Sciences on your application for admission to IU Bloomington
- Be admitted to IU’s freshman class for the coming academic year
- Have achieved outstanding academic success in high school
Preference
Preference is given to students with unmet financial need.
Application process
Students apply using IU’s online Selective Scholarship Application (SSA). You’ll be notified if your IU Bloomington application for admission qualifies you to be invited to fill out the SSA.
The College’s Scholarship Committee chooses recipients and notifies them in March.
Deadline
Applicants must submit a completed application for admission to IU Bloomington by November 1. Then they must complete the SSA by the date specified on the SSA.
Renewal
This scholarship may be renewable for up to four years.
About the donor
Alumnus Devesh Shah established this scholarship through the Goldman Sachs Gives program. Devesh came to IU sight unseen from India. With the support of former mathematics professor and College of Arts and Sciences dean Morton Lowengrub, Devesh found his way to the Individualized Major Program. He graduated in 1997 with an individualized major in mathematics and finance. Devesh has had a successful career in investments and was named a partner at Goldman Sachs early in his career.
