The amount of the Knauss Family Scholarship and the number of recipients vary from year to year. The scholarship may not be available some years.
Knauss Family Scholarship
Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- List an intended major in the College of Arts and Sciences on your application for admission to IU Bloomington
- Be admitted to IU’s freshman class for the coming academic year
- Have achieved outstanding academic success in high school
Application process
Students apply using IU’s online Selective Scholarship Application (SSA). You’ll be notified if your IU Bloomington application for admission qualifies you to be invited to fill out the SSA.
The College’s Scholarship Committee chooses recipients and notifies them in March.
Deadline
Applicants must submit a completed application for admission to IU Bloomington by November 1. Then they must complete the SSA by the date specified on the SSA.
Renewal
This scholarship may be renewable for up to four years if all criteria continue to be met and the recipient has a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at IU.
About the donors
Don R. Knauss, B.A. History 1977, and his wife, Ellie M. Knauss, established this scholarship to honor one of Don’s most memorable history professors, the late Paul R. Lucas, and to support promising and intellectually curious students who wish to pursue a degree in any area of the liberal arts and sciences.
