The amount of the Philip and Judith Sbarbaro Scholarship in Psychological and Brain Sciences and the number of recipients vary from year to year. The scholarship may not be available some years.
Philip & Judith Sbarbaro Scholarship in Psychological & Brain Sciences
Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- List an intended major in psychological and brain sciences on your application for admission to IU Bloomington
- Be admitted to IU’s freshman class for the coming academic year
- Have achieved outstanding academic success in high school, particularly in the social sciences
- Have demonstrated leadership ability
Application process
Students apply using IU’s online Selective Scholarship Application (SSA). You’ll be notified if your IU Bloomington application for admission qualifies you to be invited to fill out the SSA.
The College’s Scholarship Committee chooses recipients and notifies them in March.
Deadline
Applicants must submit a completed application for admission to IU Bloomington by November 1. Then they must complete the SSA by the date specified on the SSA.
Renewal
This scholarship may be renewable for up to four years.

Philip and Judith Sbarbaro established this scholarship to honor their daughter, Lauren, B.A. 2010, for her academic achievements and time spent at Indiana University. The Sbarbaros see the College and Indiana University as a remarkable environment that nurtures learning and growth.
