Apply to IU! If you meet initial eligibility criteria will be invited to complete the online Selective Scholarship Application (SSA). If you meet the admission criteria for the Hutton Honors College, you will be invited to also apply for the STARS program.
Application review typically begins in mid-January with program invitations going out in mid-to-late March.
Note: Students who are interested in STARS and who do not receive an invitation to complete an SSA may petition for the opportunity to apply by sending an email request to collugrs@iu.edu. The deadline for this petition is December 1.
Current freshmen and sophomores can apply to STARS by contacting the program administrator at collugrs@iu.edu. Students must complete 1-2 semesters of coursework and major in one of the sciences within the College. You should make efforts to explore faculty with whom you’d like to work, interview with STARS Directors and selected faculty, and secure a faculty member’s sponsorship. STARS Directors will consider information gathered by your application, academic performance at IU, personal statements, and interviews. Freshman/Sophomore application.
