Jorge José, James H. Rudy Distinguished Professor of Physics, was invited to co-organize a physics workshop held in Singapore in early June, due in part to his key role in the initial stages of the work that validated a theory developed by the researchers who received the 2016 Nobel Prize in Physics.
Other co-organizers of the event, titled “Workshop on Topological Phase Transitions and New Developments,” were J. Michael Kosterlitz, one of the 2016 Nobel Laureates in Physics; Lars Brink, former chair of the Nobel Physics Committee; Mike Gunn of the University of Birmingham; and K. K. Phua of the Center for Advanced Studies in Singapore.
Participants in the workshop include Kosterlitz and F. Duncan M. Haldane, also a 2016 Nobel Laureate in Physics, as well as numerous other world-recognized scientists.
