Flavors of the world
Bloomington is a town for foodies. Here, you can find Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Moroccan, Tibetan, Thai, Indian, Afghani, Turkish, Algerian, Eritrean, French, Italian, Cajun, and Mexican eateries, as well as great barbeque, bistros, pizza and hamburger joints, chocolatiers, bakeries, bagel shops, and ice creameries. Local and organic ingredients are used in restaurants such as FARMBloomington and The Elm. Vegan eaters enjoy The Owlery for meals and Rainbow Bakery for a sweet treat while relaxing or studying. Food trucks are another option for delicious fast food.
We’re home to several microbreweries, including Upland Brewery, Bloomington Brewing Company, and The Switchyard. If you want drinks with friends, try Atlas, the Bishop, Social Cantina, or the local distillery, Cardinal Spirits. Nick’s English Hut, Michael’s Uptown Café, and The Tap are favorite spots for watching a game, or for mingling with both townies and students.
Great local coffee houses, such as Soma, The Inkwell Bakery & Cafe, and Hopscotch Coffee keep the city buzzing. Bloomingfoods Market and Deli, a food co-op, has locations near the square and on the Eastside near College Mall. Popular retail chains and supermarkets are also accessible on the eastern and western edges of town.
