Program Details

What do the College advancement ambassadors do in the program?

This leadership position provides students with the opportunity to meet and converse with spectacular alumni from the College of Arts and Sciences. Through these alumni interactions, students gain career insights, professional development, and often a mentor who can help steer their paths after graduation.

College Advancement Ambassadors will accompany Luminaries around campus, as well as attend special functions featuring the Luminaries during the program's events during the 2024-2025 academic year. College Advancement Ambassadors will attend monthly meetings with the Program Advisor incorporating professional development and information dissemination.

What do the Luminaries do while on campus?

But what does it mean to be a Luminary?

Put simply, Luminaries are role models for students in the College, sharing their stories to illuminate the possibilities created by a liberal arts education, though many have said the experience runs much deeper. Through the program’s events, Luminaries have the opportunity to return to campus, guide current students, and reconnect with the Bloomington community in a very personal way.

And what does your campus visit entail?

The Office of Advancement will help Luminaries plan their visit to campus and shape it in the way that they want. Whether that means revisiting favorite places, enjoying the beauty of campus, discovering new activities, or reconnecting with faculty. Activities could include classroom talks, small-group interactions, restaurant dinners, or informal opportunities to meet and connect with students and faculty.
