John and Wendy Kindig met as undergraduates at IU, where she was studying chemistry and he was a biology student. Following their undergraduate experience, they both attended the IU School of Medicine. Along the way, their relationship blossomed into what has now been a successful marriage of 42 years. They both enjoyed exemplary medical careers, as a nephrologist in Wendy’s case, and for John, as a cardiologist.
Through it all, their fondness for the university and appreciation for their education never faded. Although they had been consistent annual donors to the university for more than 30 years, upon retirement from medical practice they decided it was time to do something more. Their love of the sciences and desire to help students who come after them led them to create the Kindig Scholarship in the College of Arts and Sciences.
